Removable Partial Dentures : Their Role in Prosthodontics

Friday, 3 January 2014

By : Kenneth S. Kurtz
In this video, Kenneth S. Kurtz explains the advantages of using removable partial dentures (RPD) to address different medical situations. According to Kurtz, when considering this option dental practitioners should take into account not only the patients' medical condition but also their physical and economic situation. Removable partial dentures are more effective and provide long-lasting benefits for even difficult cases, such as mutilated dentition or ectodermal dysplasia; unfortunately, though, this art may eventually be lost as time goes on.  Kurtz also describes how RPDs can be changed and remolded to satisfy a patient's needs and explains that in the vast majority of cases in which RPDs are utilized, the outcomes are favorable.
